Greater Cincinnati Handball Association Sponsors A Creative Approach To National Handball Tournament As many handball players and supporters already know, The National Masters Handball Tournament will be held in Cincinnati on April 7 - 11, 2005. Of course, with a tournament of this size, fundraising is a key ingredient in making it successful. The Greater Cincinnati Handball Association has approached Joe Nuxhall, a living legend in Cincinnati and Major League Baseball, and his Character Excellence Foundation to partner with us to raise monies for both the Foundation and the National Masters Championship. On June 6, 1944 Joe was the youngest player ever to appear in a Major League game at fifteen years old when he pitched for the Cincinnati Redlegs. Throughout his career he played handball in Cincinnati as part of his off-season conditioning. Joe has spent 60 years in baseball, the last 30 years as a radio broadcaster with Marty Brenneman, a Hall of Famer. This broadcasting team is recognized as one of the best-known tandems in the industry. We anticipate that this partnership will produce a tremendous Handball Tournament and benefit many young people in the Greater Cincinnati area. We look forward to having everyone here in Cincinnati in the spring.Sincerely, |
