Review of Minutes
- George Lehocky asked that the minutes of the November meeting as published
on the website be amended to reflect the following items.
To the Treasurer's Report, George added "each board member is strongly encouraged to promote
and recruit new memberships."
George requested that the Golf Outing discussion be moved to the Old Business.
In the Queen City Shootout item, George asked that responsibility for
obtaining sponsorship money from Ron Rosselot be assigned to Jack Dean.
George asked that the minutes reflect a unanimous
agreement by the Board to maintain the treasury at its current
level, in anticipation of 3-wall maintenance costs or other contingencies.

Queen City
Shootout
- Sponsorship money
is yet to be collected from Ron Rosselot and Paul Baker. Glenn
Laque and Jennifer Walker have already paid.
- Directors are Jack
Prather and Jim Krailler. The initial draw was posted around
noon on the day of the meeting.
- Shirts have been
selected and 72 have been purchased and are being printed.
Because of additional entries and the need for sponsor shirts, 12 more
are needed. Jack Prather will handle these additional shirts.
- Consistent with
previous Board decisions, the awards will be a pair of gloves and one
can of handballs for champions; finalists will be awarded a pair of
gloves. All winners will be offered the option of having an
engraved trophy shipped to them at a future date.

Golf Outing -- Since
the November meeting, Board members have received the financial report
from the September Golf Outing. Paul Baker reports a loss of $203.00
for 2002, attributed to additional beer expenses caused by hot weather,
and less income than normal from the "split-the-pot" raffle.
In consideration for this loss, and since Paul has already agreed to
sponsor the Queen City Shootout, the Board decided to forgo the entire
costs of the Fitness@Waycross tournament sponsorship.
The Board also suggests that for next year's Golf Outing, the entry
fee charged to players needs to cover golf and dinner expenses.
The Board also suggested that Paul explore a less-expensive caterer.
Tina's Day-After-Thanksgiving
Party -- Although attendance on the handball courts at Central Parkway
Y was not as good as in years past, the party at Tina's was well-attended
and voted a great success by those who were able to be there.
ShortLine -- The
deadline for the next ShortLine is 12/15/02. However, because
of a heavy workload (Shootout tournament, membership mailing, BlueBall,
and Ireland reports) coupled with the desire to include entries to both
the Ohio State Championship tournament and the Akron Open, production
of the ShortLine may be pushed back and will probably miss the January
1 target mailing date.
Reds Game --
George did obtain a schedule, and will work with John Love on date selection
for the outing. Because of the new stadium, Board members feel
it's important to get tickets as soon as they become available. A suggestion
was made to see the New York Yankees, who are in town Tuesday through
Thursday, 6/3-6/5. Another suggestion was made to return the outing
to a Friday evening.

Queen
City Shootout
-- Discussed at length, above.
BlueBall Open
-- The BlueBall 3-wall tournement will once again be held on January
1st, 2003 at 12:00 noon. All players are encouraged to dress warmly
and come out to Veterans' Park on New Year's Day to start the year off
right. GCHA will provide court maintenance, heat and heated balls.
Caples 3-Wall
-- In response to a suggestion received last month, Jim Krailler
looked into alternative weekend dates to hold the Caples tournament.
After looking at last year's schedule, every weekend after mid-June
(dates of 4-wall nationals) and in July conflicted with 3-wall events
in either Detroit or Chicago. The Board decided to continue with the
last weekend in July for the tournament.
