were mostly related to the Caples tournament and merchandise sales.
Current balance of the GCHA checking account is $ 9,012.
Memorial
Funds - An additional $10 was received for the Coleman fund
from Gene Jackson. Membership Report
- There was no activity in membership
this past month. GCHA ends the membership year with a total of 126
members. George encouraged Board members to push membership over the
coming months membership drive, in order to equal or better the current
total.

Summer
3-Wall Doubles League, Veterans Park - Jim Krailler has plaques
for the winners, to be distributed at the Fall meeting. The
"End of League" party was held Friday, August 22nd. Despite
rain in the area, games were played starting around 4:30 pm. GCHA
supplied drinks (sodas and beer) at the courts, followed by food at
Abby's for those who wished to stay.
GCHA Golf
Outing - The date has been set for Friday, September 12th,
with a sign-up deadline of August 29th. Entries forms and information
were included in the July ShortLine.
GCHA Fall Meeting - The Board set the date of
Monday, October 13th, for the Annual GCHA Fall Meeting and Member
Appreciation event. The meeting will again take place at Paul Baker's
Fitness@Waycross club. George Lehocky will continue to work with Paul
and other Board members to finalize arrangements. Courts will be reserved
starting at 4:00 pm. Food and drinks will be provided by GCHA. On
the agenda for the evening's meeting are: 3-Wall league awards, moment
of remembrance for members who have passed away during the past year,
and an update on regional activities from Jack Prather, USHA Regional
Commissioner. In addition, the GCHA supply of water-proof yellow-bags
will be distributed to those in attendance. Prior to the meeting,
George Lehocky will prepare an article for publication in the Fall
ShortLine on the value of membership
Plaque, 3-Wall courts - Bob Burkitt sought vendor
quotes for bronze nameplates (Bob Burkitt and George Lehocky) to add
to the wall plaque at Veterans' Park. The Board approved expenditures
of $ 85 each (other quote was for $130 each) for the plates, which
have been ordered and paid for. Bob Burkitt will attach the plates
once they're received.
October
ShortLine - Jim Krailler reminded Board members of the September
15th deadline for articles for the October 1st issue of the ShortLine.
Information for the Fall Party and Membership Appreciation Night,
and an entry form for the Queen City Shootout are scheduled for inclusion.
David Kent has agreed to write an annual "fiscal health"
report.
Fall
League - Paul Baker has expressed interest in hosting a Fall
Doubles league at Waycross. Signups will be taken at the annual meeting.
Tentative details are that games will be held on Friday evening. Cost
will be $10 for Waycross members, and that non-members will be again
be welcome. Additional details will follow.
State Championship
- No additional information has been received, and Jack Prather was
unable to attend this meeting for any updates.

Caples
3-Wall - Plaques have been received and mailed to winners
who requested them.
2004 Date - Alternate dates for the Caples tournament were discussed,
but the decision on summer 2004 was deferred for a later meeting.
Columbus 3-Wall
- Two players (Jim Krailler & Jack Prather) represented Cincinnati.
USHA 3-Wall Nationals,
Maumee, OH - Four players (Jim Ballinger, Jim Krailler, Jack
Prather & Jim Wohl) represented Cincinnati. At the Board meeting,
Jim Krailler noted the participation of Cincinnati players (or lack
thereof) at these out-of-town tournaments.
World Handball
Championships, Ireland - To date, Denis Hogan will be the
sole representive from Cincinnati at this tournament.
Queen
City Shootout - Paul Baker has agreed to host the Shootout
at Waycross. The dates of Friday, November 7th through Sunday November
9th have been established for this tournament. Jim Krailler will prepare
the entry form for posting on the website and inclusion in the Fall
ShortLine. Sponsorship is still being sought.

Handball Reunion and Party
- Sam Minnielli has planned a reunion of Hamilton-area handball players,
and has extended an invitation to any and all players in the area.
The Hamilton guys would appreciate a big turnout.
Other? - Jack Prather will attend the October
Board meeting for an update on state and regional activities.
