Due to the fact that Board President Senor Jorge Lehocky was in the midst of a senor moment, Vice-President Jack Dean conducted the evening's meeting. Will Straw, Greg Fite, Jack Prather and Jim Wohl were also in attendance.

- Current balance of the GCHA checking
account is $ 10,432.
Membership Report - Jim Krailler reports
that the 2004 roster lists129 members. Bob
Hiance pointed out that this number is over 1/3 of the entire Ohio membership
in the USHA, a fact which is statistically unrelated but noted in the
minutes anyway. |

Fame Golf Outing Board Membership Annual

Hall of Fame - The local Hall of Fame committee
is scheduled to meet within the month. Mike Reilly was not present.
Golf Outing - Paul Baker reports that the Golf Outing
was a break-even event. With 44 golfers participating @ $70, the prize
money was reduced in order to keep the outing from losing money.

- Jim Krailler reports that no nominations or self-nominations have
been received after a month of being posted on the website and included
in the October Shortline. As a result, the
2005 GCHA Board of Directors that will be proposed to the membership
at the Annual Meeting is:

Annual Meeting - George Lehocky
reports (via email, since he wasn't at the meeting) that he
has confirmed all arrangements with both the
Central Parkway YMCA and the Washington
Platform to host this year's GCHA Annual Fall Meeting and Membership
Appreciation Night on Monday October 11th. Jack Prather requested
to be added to the night's agenda in order to promote the April 2005
USHA National Masters Singles tournament, and to provide details on
sponsorship.
Hamilton
Handball Re-union - Sam Minielli is hosting another
re-union of Hamilton and Cincinnati handball players at his Tori's
Station banquet hall. The party will be held on Friday, November 12th,
starting at 7:00 pm; dinner with set-ups costs $12, and a cash bar
will be available.

Tournaments - Jim Krailler
reports that information, entry forms and/or links
to all area tournaments have been added to the website calendar, with
additional information posted when appropriate.
Queen City Shootout
- The Queen City
Shootout is scheduled for December 3rd, 4th and 5th at Paul
Baker's Athletic Club @ Waycross. Greg Fite has volunteered to be
the tournament director, with George Lehocky serving as primary support
person. George Lehocky reports (via email, since he wasn't at the
meeting) that he has four sponsors lined up for the event. Trophies
are suggested as awards.
USHA National Masters Singles - Jack Prather reports
that the dates for this tournament will be Thursday, April 7th through
Sunday, April 10th. The banquet will be held Saturday evening at Sam
Minielli's banquet hall, Tori's Station in Fairfield. Committee work
continues with particular aspects related to the tournament, including
finance, food, hospitality and sponsorship. The plan is to have
sponsorship finalized by December, and feature a multi-tiered approach
with appropriate perks. (Name on courts, name on shirts, names in entry
form, etc.)
Bob Hiance reports that he was not successful in obtaining a major
sponsorship from 5/3rd Bank. The Sponsorship Committee is expected
to meet soon, perhaps after the annual meeting, to discuss other possible
sponsors.
Two hotels want to be considered for advertisement to the players.
Lee's Inn is offering a rate of $79 for a double/king, $99 for a suite.
AmeriSuites is offering $69 for double/king and a hot breakfast. The
Holiday Inn atRoute 42 has also offered rooms for $69. The Hampton
Inn is also being pursued.
Entry form needs to be forwarded to the USHA for publication in Handball magazine.
Midwest Regional - Jack Prather also reports that
the May tournament in Cleveland may become a regional tournament.

3-Wall Work Day - Bob Burkitt
announced an October 16th work day for the 3-wall courts. Work will
center around the repair of spalls and winterizing the courts.
Texas Hold 'em Night - Greg
Fite suggested that GCHA hold a poker night for the membership.
UC Handball Team - The UC
Handball Team holds practice every Tuesday and Thursday, from 7:00
- 9:00 pm. 6-12 new players have been contacted, ant there is enthusiasm
among the players. UC has provided a budget for the club, to be used
for gloves, balls, travel expenses, tournament entry fees, etc. Jim
Wohl appreciates any and all support from the GCHA.
