Reds Outing
- George Lehocky reports that only 5 of the 30 tickets
remain for the Friday, June 17th game between
the Reds and the Atlanta Braves. Tickets are $20 each.
Member Survey - (repeated from May minutes; survey still in development.) Jim Krailler
proposed that the GCHA post an online member survey, to gather input
for the incoming 2006 Board. All GCHA events would be listed, asking
members opinion about how important the event is to the organization,
and how often they attend each of the annual events. Opinions could
also be solicited about the makeup of the Board, the amount in the
current treasury, membership dues, etc. Jim will develop the survey,
and bring a draft to a future board meeting.
Summer InterCity 3-Wall League - Jim Krailler reports that he's spoken with a number of the more active 3-wall players, without much interest in participation. Will Straw suggested that an inter-city team tournament be held. No one volunteered to organize this event.
GCHA Summer 3-Wall League - No one has volunteered
to be the league director; subsequently, this event will be dropped
from this year's calendar.
Basketball Hall of Fame Induction - George
Lehocky had no followup information concerning this event, but feels
that John Love is appreciative of having the information posted.
ShortLine Deadline - The deadline
for the Summer edition of the ShortLine is June 15th, with a posting
deadline of July 1, 2005. Details of the Golf Outing and the Annual
Fall Meeting and Membership Appreciation Night should be included
in this issue.
USHA National Masters - While
some of the final bills have yet to be paid, the Board began discussions
concerning the surplus funds. Per the commitment at the time of the
letter appeal, $ 1,260 will be earmarked for use by the Ohio Hall
of Fame committee to cover future expenses. Recommendations were made
for the $ 2,800 left for disbursement. The Board voted to provide
a $100 donation to the Waycross Media group, the non-profit, all-volunteer
organization who provided video coverage of two of the final
matches, as well as providing GCHA with distribution rights for those
matches. The Board also voted to donate $100 to the St. Vincent de
Paul Community Pharmacy, in honor of the late Bruce Beimesch.
A lengthy discussion followed concerning the donation of part of
the proceeds to the USHA (United States Handball Association.) A series
of votes were held which resulted in the decision to donate $500 now
to the USHA Development Fund. (8-1 in favor of donating money to the
USHA; 7-2 in favor of making the contribution now rather than waiting
until the July meeting; 6-2 in favor of the amount of $500.) Disbursement
of additional proceeds will be discussed at a future meeting. Some
of the options available are are the USHA "Share The Passion"
fund, an additional contribution to the Development Fund, enhancing
the Annual Fall Meeting and Membership Appreciation event, or hosting
an additional party for GCHA members.
"Share The Passion" Tour - George Lehocky
reports that the USHA's "Share The Passion" Tour will be
held at Tori's Station on Monday, July 18th. Tom Sove, USHA representative,
will host the event and make a presentation to attendees about the
fund-raising effort. Cocktails and horsdoevres will be paid for by
the USHA.
