The March 2006 GCHA Board meeting was held on Wednesday, March 1st starting at approximately 7:00 pm.

Attendance - Board members George Lehocky, David Kent, Jim Krailler, Bob Burkitt, Greg Fite, Chris Lazarovski, Mike Reilly, Ron Rosselot and Will Straw were in attendance. Absent were Jack Dean and Dave Laxton.

Corrections and additions to February 2006 minutes

Review of Minutes - The minutes of the February 2006 Board meeting, as posted on the website, were approved.

Income / Expenditures / Current balance - Treasurer David Kent presented a financial report showing the current balance of the GCHA checking account is $ 12,970.19.

Membership Report - Jim Krailler reports that the current 2006 membership is at 98. A list of those who received a reminder mailing, without responding, was distributed to Board members for follow-up phone calls. The Board voted that Chris Seal receive a complimentary membership, due to his status as a full-time graduate student.

Red's Tickets - George Lehocky has purchased 35 tickets for this spring's GCHA Reds outing. The Reds play the Chicago White Sox on Friday, June 16th at 7:05 pm. Tickets are $20.

3-wall Work Day - Bob Burkitt has tentatively scheduled Saturday April 8th; 9:00 am - 1:00 pm for the annual 3-wall spring cleanup and repair date, weather permitting.

College Team Update - Miami University tournament has been announced for March 24th - 26th.

GCHA Mission and Vision Statements - Ron Rosselot and Will Straw presented proposed GCHA Mission and Vision statements for the Board's consideration. After discussion, a formal vote was taken, with both statements winning unanimous approval. The statements will be posted on the GCHA website for comments.

The Mission of the GCHA is to promote camaraderie among its members, provide resoureces to execute tournaments, support youth handball, and maintain the 3-wall courts in Green Township in partnership with the Trustees. The Vision of the GCHA is to organize and promote the joy of the game of handball in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Tournament Schedule - Jim Krailler reports that information about a new Miami University tournament has been posted on the website.

Bob Caples Memorial 3-Wall Tournament - Saturday, June 10th and Sunday, June 11th have been posted for the Bob Caples 3-Wall Tournament, to be held at Veterans Park. Jim Krailler volunteered to serve as the tournament director. Tentative sponsors include Rosselot Financial (Ron Rosselot and Tom Gilday), JuicePlus (George Lehocky) and Spraying Systems (Glenn Laque).

Novice/Junior 3-Wall Tournament - Will Straw stated that he would like to explore the idea of organizing a 3-wall tournament dedicated to novice and/or junior players. He will discuss the idea with members in the near future and report back to the Board.

Survey - David Kent distributed a prototype of a member survey for consideration. Board members should be prepared to discuss the survey at the April Board meeting.
