Income / Expenditures / Current balance
- Treasurer David Kent reported a current balance $11,816.22 in the
GCHA checking account. David also distributed a summary statement
of income and expenses at the Caples 3-wall tournament. Even though
Saturday's rain forced the tournament inside, with the accompanying
court fees, the tournament did manage to have a positive net income
of $ 64.80; this figure was later adjusted to $94.36 after final payments
were determined. The financial report will be published on the website,
in keeping with comments received on the member survey.
Membership Report - Jim Krailler reported
that new memberships received at the Caples Tournament bring the number
of members to 109 for 2006.

Reds Outing - Even though the Reds lost to the Chicago
White Sox on Friday, June 16th, all concluded that the outing was
another successful GCHA event. Thanks to George Lehocky for purchasing
tickets and arranging this spring's Reds outing.
College Team Update - Jim Wohl has announced
that he is leaving the area and will no longer be able to coach the
UC Handball team. He has recruited Sam Ma to work with members of
the team.
Member Survey - David Kent reported that twenty-six
returns were received from the ninety-six surveys mailed to current
members. David distributed a compiled summary to the Board at the
July meeting. These results will be posted on the website. A lengthy
discussion ensued regarding publication of the names of those who
signed their returns. Some Board members felt that the list of names
would lend credibility and respect to those results, while other Board
members countered against publishing names, since it was not explicitly
stated on the survey that this might happen. A motion to publish the
names was made and seconded, and a vote was taken after discussion;
2 Board members voted to publish the names, while 5 Board members
voted no. The motion did not carry.
Tournament Team - Willy Straw reported that plans
are being made to hold team tournaments this upcoming year. The indoor
event is tentatively slated to take place in Cincinnati, while the
outdoor 3-wall event will be held in Maumee.

The party will be held at the Athletic Club @ Waycross.
3-Wall Courts - Bob Burkitt will fill spalls in

3-Wall Court Improvements - Jim Krailler suggested
that the GCHA seek cooperation from Green Township to solicit quotes
for the following projects:
- Rinse shower centrally located between sand volleyball courts
and handball courts, (preferred first option) or
- Rinse shower located in the restroom area
- Concrete slab, wall-finishing, some fencing or netting for 1-wall
court(s) to be located at west side of 3-wall courts in Veterans
Park.
Chris Lazarovski will approach Tony Upton for Green Township support
for these projects and to help out with any of the proposal logistics.
Mike Reilly volunteered to get estimate from Siefert for building
slab.
Queen City Open Tournament - to be placed on next
month's agenda. AmeriSuites is a possible sponsor.
