Member Survey - Jim Krailler reports that the survey
results have been posted on the website. David Kent pointed out that
the Caples tournament financial report was published on the website,
and that the ShortLine has been resurrected as a format for member
news. Articles are in preparation on some of the newer players and
GCHA members.
Team Tournament - Will Straw reported that plans
are being made to hold team tournaments this upcoming year. The indoor
event is tentatively slated to take place in Cincinnati, while the
outdoor 3-wall event will be held in Maumee.
3-Wall Courts - Bob Burkitt reported that he still
intends to fill the spalls on the floors of the 3-wall courts. He
also is attempting to meet with George Schaeffer of the Green Township
parks.
3-Wall Court Improvements - At July's Board meeting,
Jim Krailler suggested that the GCHA seek cooperation from Green Township
to solicit quotes for the following projects:
- Rinse shower centrally located between sand volleyball courts
and handball courts, (preferred first option) or
- Rinse shower located in the restroom area
- Concrete slab, wall-finishing, and some fencing or netting for
1-wall court(s) to be located at west side of 3-wall courts in Veterans
Park.
Chris Lazarovski will approach Tony Upton for Green Township support
for these projects and to help out with any of the proposal logistics.
Mike Reilly volunteered to get an estimate from the Siefert company
for installing a slab for one-wall. (No progress since last Board
meeting.)
GCHA Board Succession Planning - Current board members
expressed desire to solicit new members to fill slots on the Board.
A tentative slate of officers for the new year was proposed, and will
be discussed by those affected.
UC Handball Team - It was reported that the UC team
will not receive $3,000 in funding from Student Sports Association
due to missed deadlines. Ron Rosselot offered to contact Bert Huether
for additional information. Will Straw volunteered to contact Sam
Ma and Mark to invite them to the next GCHA meeting for an update.

USHA 3-Wall Nationals "Adopt a Lunch" solicitation
- Jim Krailler reports that the GCHA has been invited to
participate at the $100 level to the Toledo Handball Club's "Adopt
A Lunch" program at this year's
tournament. The unimous opinion was to make a donation to the program
in support of regional handball activities.
Golf
Outing - The 2006 event will be the 20th Annual GCHA Golf
Outing, and Paul Baker has expressed an interest in trying to make
it a special event. Board discussion centered around Paul's contribution
to the GCHA by organizing the outing annually. The board voted unanimously
to pursue providing a $10 discount for GCHA members only, deducted
from the $70 fee. Coolers left over from last year's annual meeting
will be presented as prizes. The Board also approved funds to provide
a keg of beer ($200 maximum) for the event. The idea of using a handball,
rather than a golf ball, on one of the holes be investigated and incorporated
into the event.
Fall
Party - It
was proposed that the Annual Fall Meeting and Member Appreciation
Party be held on October 9th at the Athletic Club @ Waycross. George
Lehocky suggested a toiletry bag, with GCHA logo, be presented to
those in attendance. These were accepted by the board, and George
will pursue making the arrangements.
City Tournament - Will Straw proposed resurrecting
the City tournament, with participation limited to local players only.
