Jack Dean has ordered 17 more shirts to fulfill obligations to those that didn’t receive one and sell the others. Five other extra shirts were given to Jack Dean. The Board voted to send a check for $100.00 to Paul Baker to tip appropriate employees who helped with the tournament at the Athletic Club @ Waycross. Only $60.00 of the $150.00 donated by W. Straw for Junior Trophies was spent. The balance of $90.00 will be used to purchase Junior Trophies for future tournaments. The Board extended its congratulations to Jack Dean , Tournament Director, for his work in making the tournament a success all round. Jack agreed to be the TD for the 08QCO tournament contingent upon the agreement that he would not have to raise money to pay winners/runnerups. The Board discussed this issue and agreed to ponder the question of prize money and revisit it at a later meeting. One GCHA member was quoted as saying that paying prize money would get the better players who are better to watch and learn from..

GCHA Website
Jesse Krailler gave a presentation utilizing a lap top computer to inform the Board of website changes and the Blog. A new GCHA web site format will be initiated on 1/10/08 to include the Blog. The site will not lose any of its current data areas. The Blog will be accessible to each Board member via an e-mail address to initiate messages which all GCHA members can respond to. Pat Shuler project at Union Central Life.
Pat is trying to get about 10 to 12 potential (beginners) players from his employer, Union Central Insurance, to learn/play handball at the Athletic Club @ Waycross during lunch hours for 10 weeks. The company gives each employee $35.00 to participate in this wellness program. Pat asked what the GCHA could do to support this project, e.g. provide gloves, balls, instruction, players to play with them, etc. Discussed the Saturday training and mentoring sessions at Waycross to give them training. Cost $5.00 each. Will look into the USHA’s new player development program to see if we can get gloves and balls. Possible players to teach and play with these folks are Ralph Weil, Marion Kollstedt, John Love, Bob Burkitt, Paul Baker, Russ Duade. To be discussed further. These new players could become GCHA members.
