January 2008 minutes accepted without changes.

Treasurer's Report |
|
Balance reported $10,575.78. A detailed bank financial report dated 1/31/08 was distributed to each Board member which reflected deposits of $100 and expenditures of $5,003.51 for month of January.

Membership
Report |
|
2008 membership at 109 or + 13 since the last meeting. A list of 08 members was distributed to each Board attendee. Each Board member is encouraged to continuously promote membership and contact those prospects not yet members. Goal is to increase membership from 101 in 2007 to a minimum of 130 in 2008. Bob Burkitt gave George Lehocky current addresses for previously sent letters that were returned. George will contact these people. Bob Burkitt reported that Denny Dupps will be delivering soon a current “Blue Book” roster for posting/updating on the gcha.org website.

- Mike Reilly informed Dave Kent that the shelter and courts have been reserved for the tournament.

- Board members participated in a conference call with Ralph Weil and Paul Baker to discuss this event. An announcement with detailed information was distributed to each attendee and will be posted on the gcha website in an entry format. Ralph and Paul are organizers of the event with endorsement and promotion by the GCHA. They also indicated that no money or manpower is required of the GCHA Board. Board member participation in the event is greatly encouraged.

- Blog is one month old. Greg Fite asked how to get the latest blog first in the order and Jim Krailler explained the process. No major issues.

USHA Donation
A letter dated January 21, 2008 was received by Jack Dean thanking the GCHA for the “generous” donation to the United States Handball Association during the 2007 calendar year. The $500 donation was earmarked for the Player Development Campaign.
Countrywide YMCA, Lebanon, OH Racquetball/Handball Tourney – February 22 – 24, 2008
Decision made to keep the entry form on the gcha website.

2008 Queen City Open Tournament
Jack Dean, Tournament Director, indicated that he’d heard from a member that the dates for the tournament should be set so this member can schedule to play in it. Two weekends (12/5 - 12/7 and 12/12 – 12/14) were discussed but no dates were picked. Plan to select a date at the March meeting.

Detroit Athletic Club Pro Am Tournament, February 1 – 2, 2008.
George Lehocky participated in this handball professional’s event and reported the highlights to the Board. Suggested that this type event be considered for Cincinnati. Not much enthusiasm expressed by the Board.
