Mentored Play Day
Saturday, March 3rd

Our March 3rd Play Day was held at the Waycross Club and had 30 men, women and boys attending.  There were four boys under 12, three women, and men from 13 to 50.  The Ohio State, UC, and Miami handball clubs came with both men and women players.  Baseball players from Dayton were present.  The Ministry of Rick Garcia and Chris Gianamore brought a fine group as well.

We started with a long talk about handball by Ralph Weil and then into the courts to learn more basics taught by mentors Will Straw,
Marion Kollstedt, Glenn Gartland, David Schwendamen, Jeff Olson and who did I forget(?).  We played Jai-alai one on one, then played to five points and then into doubles.  At three, Beth and Paul Baker brought out a chili dog lunch sponsored by the GCHA.  We planned to quit at 4:00 but a lot of the players stayed until 6:00 in spite of a few bone bruises and assorted aches and pains.

We have a really great tournament in the planning for April 28th for all new and recent converts to handball.  Feel free to contribute $25 or $50 to this tournament by check made out to USHA or cash and given to Ralph.

Our next Play Day will be April 7th at 1:00 at The Athletic Club @ Waycross.
